Ain't No Devil in Hell!

Dear friends,

The Devil loves to defeat.  He’s happy as a clam when we’re depressed and downtrodden. (Have you ever stopped to ponder that old-fashioned saying, happy as a clam?  Are clams unusually happy? I guess I could say “Happy as a pig in slop” but somehow that doesn’t sound ladylike…)  The Good Book is clear that devious demon comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) So when you’re feeling down and out, whether it’s over financial setbacks or difficult relationships or your struggle with regularly doing your temple maintenance, just remember:  Satan is happy when you’re sad.  And I don’t know about you but that’s enough to get me up and doin’ a jig!  ‘Cus I sure hate that Satan and I don’t want him to think I’ve been defeated!  Oh no!  Ain’t no devil gonna steal my joy or my victory in Jesus!  I just remind myself of Brother John’s strong words “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”  (I John 4:4)

I know from experience if I’m battling the blues there’s no better medicine than the double-dose punch of singing the Word of Truth.  When Jesus was weary from fasting in the wilderness for forty days and Satan tried to tempt Him, He spoke the Word right in his face.  I regularly speak the Word of Truth out loud but I sure do love singing a prayerful pick-me-up.  One of my favorite musical weapons is Daniebelle Hall’s “Aint’ No Devil in Hell (Gonna Walk on the Jesus in Me).”  Have you heard of it?  Do you know of dear Daniebelle?  Oh brothers and sisters, she needs to be on your ipod speed-dial because she sings some powerful praises.  But like I said, Ain’t No Devil in Hell is my first line of defense in battling the blues.  Click here and sing along like you mean it:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_HQBktwjVk

You tried messing with my mind,
then you tried sneaking up on me from behind.
You tried to make wonder if I really had a friend,
then you tried to make me wonder if I'd been born again.
Satan, you tried everything you could to make me feel like I was no good,
but let me tell you...

Chorus:
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me.
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me.

You tried to get me feeling sorry for myself,
then you tried to make you think I was alone, I didn't have no help (I didn't have no help).
You tried to make me feel like all of my hope was gone,
then you tried (tried) to make think nobody cared that I was alone.
Satan, you tried everything you could to make this child of God feel no good,
but let me tell you...

Chorus:
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me.
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me.

Because the Jesus in me stands for righteousness and love.
The Jesus in me stands for strength from above.
The Jesus in me stands for truth and liberty.
I live in Him and I know He lives in me.

You tried to get me walking, walking with my head hung down,
then you tried to make me think that, thought that I was bound.
You tried to steal my heart, you tried to fill it with jealousy,
then you tried so hard just to take away my liberty.
Satan, you tried everything you could to make this child of God feel no good,
but let me tell you...

Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me.
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me.

Greater is He that is in me.
Greater is He that is in me.
Greater is He that is in me, than He that is in the world.

Now don’t you just LOVE that??

“You tried messin’ with my mind…”  Isn’t that where it all starts?  When your mind goes down a dangerous path of doubt, or fear, or crying for CONTROL?  One of Joyce Meyer’s best books is entitled “Battlefield of the Mind” and she tells how Satan tries to derail us with his lies.  Just ask Ms. Eve from Garden of Eden fame... Miss Daniebelle goes on, “You tried sneakin’ up on me from behind…”  Oh that devious devil sneaking up on us.  We’re going along doing our days when some temptation or expense or unkindness or disrespect comes at us out of nowhere and BAM! we fall into the pit of pity.  Sister D. sings, “You tried to make me wonder if I really had a friend…if I’d been born again…to make me feel like I was no good…”  Sound familiar?  Have you believed those lousy lies before?  That darned devil can sure deceive!

So be ready at a moment’s notice to stand up and proclaim vehemently!

Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me!
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me!

Greater is He that is in me.
Greater is He that is in me.
Greater is He that is in me, than He that is in the world.

Sing it sisters and brothers!  Don’t you allow any demon to derail your days!  Hold your head high, wave your arms wildly, and stand on your strength through Jesus!

Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me!
Ain't no devil in Hell gonna walk on the Jesus in me!

Oh, I just love defeatin’ the devil, don’t you?

Live Well,

Grace
