Beaming Believers
We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Dear friends,
After Moses met with the Lord God Almighty on the holy mount, his face beamed brightly. Literally, like a street lamp. We read in Exodus 34:29-35 that after his Providential pow-wow, the skin of his face shone, startling the Israelites and making them afraid to go near him. Though there are lots of lessons in Exodus concerning obedience (or lack thereof…), God’s faithfulness, and more, I want to muse a moment on Moses. After seeing God, his face shone.
Are you radiant after spending time with Jesus? What if our connection to our Father was revealed by our glow? That could be mighty embarrassing, as some Christians would be about as brilliant as a windowless basement.
Jesus told His disciples to let their light shine before men, that they might see His glory. Are you a light in your world? Or do you default to gloom and doom? Surely there is much to mourn these days. Violence. Natural disasters. Pathetic politics. But remember saints, you are not of this world. This is a fleeting assignment, like a college semester abroad. Don’t get too comfortable and definitely don’t sweat the small stuff. Keep your eyes on Jesus so your soul will shine in this wilderness.
Let’s look a moment at your food and fitness program, shall we? On a 1-10 scale, 10 being you are so excited to go for your walk you can hardly sleep at night, and 1 is you’re not sleeping at all ‘cus you’re dreading it so, how would you rate your attitude? Do you have a shining spirit over the privilege of tending your temple? If not, why not? What’s your worry?
Let’s go back to our earthly mission. God has you on this ball at this time in your home town for a purpose, and that is to reveal His glory. According to 2 Corinthians 3:18, you are slowly being conformed into His image, from glory to glory – step by step – as the Holy Spirit sanctifies you. You are transformed by the renewing of your mind, and when your brain is beaming, your face will be too. If your brow is furrowed at the thought of exercising, turn your eyes upon Jesus. Go to the mount to receive His encouragement. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. Our radiance comes from Christ. Our enthusiasm and exuberance are fueled by the Spirit. If your light is sputtering, get yourself back into His Word. …for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Neh 8:10
Live Well,
Grace
