A Prayer of Hope
Recently I was speaking to a woman about losing some of her weight and her eyes followed her chin right down toward the ground as she became visibly downcast. “Gracie,” she said, “I just don’t think I can ever get rid of these extra pounds. It’s a burden I’ve carried all of my life and seems I’ll carry it until I die.”
Now that sure did make my heart sorrowful. Her defeated spirit broke my heart. So I pulled out the Good Book and prayed some of Brother Paul’s letter to the Ephesians over her:
Heavenly Father, Give my sweet sister your Sprit of truth, wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of You. May the eyes of her heart be enlightened that she might know what is the hope to which You have called her. May she get a glimpse of Your immeasurable power toward her as a believer. Protect her, Lord, from Satan’s demeaning, debilitating lies. He wants to steal her joy and her hope. Give her the courage to release this burden to You; to cast all her cares on You, that she might live life abundantly.
We love you, Jesus.
Amen.
Do you know someone who’s feeling defeated in the physical realm? Then call them up right now and pray this little prayer over them. The Word is sharper than any two-edged sword, and defeats the devil. Remember, Brother James reminds us that the fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.
And don’t forget our theme song by Daniebelle Hall!
